woodward elks rodeo~July 18-19-20-21, 2012

The Woodward Elks Rodeo Committee was honored at the March of Dimes Gala in Oklahoma City for their generous fundraising efforts.
Northwest Oklahoma can be proud of the generous businesses and patrons who donated items, time, and of course, their hard-earned money to benefit the following local charities:
Elks Benefit Auction and Dance: Each year the Rodeo Committee hosts a benefit auction and dance with proceeds going to local charities or a specified family with medical needs. We provide a delicious meal, auction, and dance for very worthy causes. Over $300,000 in charitable donations has been raised through our fundraising efforts for our yearly benefit.
Food Pantry Donation: During rodeo week, all children ages 12 and under, who bring a canned item are admitted to the rodeo free of charge. The food items are then donated to our local food pantry. We also make a cash donation to the Food Pantry which is matched by the local United Southgate Grocery.
Ministerial
Law Enforcement Donations: We donate $750 annually to each of the following law enforcement agencies: Woodward County Sheriff’s Department, Woodward City Police Department, the Woodward Fire Department, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Public Schools: We partner with the rodeo concessions to the Woodward High School Band Boosters for their fundraiser. We make a monetary donation to the Woodward High School Girls Basketball Team and the Cheerleaders for their help in selling rodeo programs at the rodeo. We make a monetary donation to all local Jr. Livestock Shows in Woodward, Harper, and Ellis counties, as well as the
Cancer Awareness: Saturday night at the rodeo is “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness night and you will see the committee men dressed in their pink shirts. We are proud of the fact we raise over $5,000 for Breast Cancer Research annually.
Furnish Meals for Local Events: Annually our committee furnishes and cooks the food for the local Special Olympics, Woodward High School FFA Banquet, Fargo FFA Banquet, the citywide Kiwanis Track Meet, and the
Volunteer Cooks for Area Events: We also volunteer to cook for a variety of area events annually. They are: A.P.I. Fish Fry Scholarship Fundraiser, Relay for Life, Northwest District Jr. Livestock Stock Show Premium sale, Cystic Fibrosis Ranch Rodeo, Fort Supply Community Fish Fry, Northwest Oklahoma Cattleman’s Banquet and Ball;

The Woodward Elks Rodeo Committee is a community volunteer organization. Committee members do not receive compensation for their time or labor while serving on the rodeo committee.
